Since 1915, Gstaad has been at the heart of international tennis. Over the decades, the tournament has established itself as an essential fixture on the international tennis calendar. Many tennis legends have made history here, including Stefan Edberg, Ilie Năstase, Tony Roche, Rod Laver, Boris Becker, Yannick Noah, Jim Courier and Roger Federer, who won the tournament in 2004.

With five titles, Australia’s Roy Emerson remains the most successful player in the history of the tournament. In his honour, the current venue in the heart of Gstaad bears his name: the Roy Emerson Arena.

The first edition of the tournament was held on courts near the Gstaad Palace. The tournament was later moved to the centre of the village, where it is still held today. In 2015, this iconic tournament, the oldest in Switzerland, celebrated its 100th anniversary.
