Exciting Thursday Ahead Featuring Ruud, Kym, Bublik and Stricker

Fans eager to find out whether Jérôme Kym can complete a stunning upset will have to return on Thursday. His thrilling match against Stefanos Tsitsipas was suspended due to darkness with the score tied at 5–5 in the deciding set.

There are plenty of reasons to come back, as Thursday promises another action-packed schedule at the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad. The tournament’s top two seeds will make their first appearances: World No. 13 Casper Ruud is set to face Portugal’s Jaime Faria (ATP No. 92), who eliminated Stan Wawrinka in the opening round, from around 12:00 pm. The two-time Gstaad champion (2021 and 2022) remains one of the tournament’s biggest fan favourites.

Later in the day, defending champion Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan, the tournament’s top seed and World No. 11, will take on France’s Quentin Halys (ATP No. 90). Alongside these high-profile Round of 16 clashes, Swiss fans will also have plenty to cheer for.

Between those two matches, Jérôme Kym and Stefanos Tsitsipas will resume their suspended encounter from Wednesday. The Swiss wildcard has pushed the former World No. 3, now ranked No. 85, to the limit despite entering the match as the clear underdog. Kym dropped serve in the opening set but responded brilliantly by dominating the second-set tiebreak before holding serve throughout the deciding set until play was halted shortly before 9:00 pm because of fading light.

To reach the quarter-finals for the second consecutive year, Kym now needs just a few more points. He will also be hoping for another passionate show of support from the home crowd.
