On his second appearance in the Bernese Oberland, Stefanos Tsitsipas achieved his goal. The Greek star captured the title at the tournament he described two years ago as “love at first sight.” In a hard-fought 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 victory over courageous Belgian finalist Raphael Collignon, the 27-year-old produced tennis of the highest level. Right until the final point, he remained focused, physically outstanding, full of confidence, and determined to claim his 13th ATP title—his first since winning Dubai in February last year. The victory lifts the former world No. 3 up 34 places in the ATP Rankings, moving him back to world No. 51 after several challenging months.
Tsitsipas was all smiles during the trophy ceremony, while signing autographs and taking selfies with enthusiastic fans, and even when jumping into the cold fountain outside the Grand Hotel Bellevue at the request of the tournament organizers for a special winner’s photo. Only lifting Gstaad’s famous granite trophy briefly seemed to test the athletic Athenian.
Tsitsipas wasn’t the only one smiling on this perfect final day of the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad. Despite the disappointment of losing his first ATP Tour final, Raphael Collignon will soon have plenty to celebrate. Currently ranked world No. 42, the Belgian climbs to a career-high No. 37 in the ATP Rankings. The biggest result of his career so far is expected to give his rise even greater momentum. Collignon also promised that he would never forget his week in the Saanenland and would certainly return to Gstaad.
Last but not least, the tournament organizers expressed complete satisfaction with the 2026 edition of the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad. Thanks to Stan Wawrinka’s farewell appearances, the impressive performances of the Swiss players, the return of several tennis stars, and a charismatic champion, the stands were sold out on four days and well attended throughout the week. “With around 40,000 spectators, we were able to increase attendance once again, and our guests were delighted with their experience,” said Tournament Director Jeff Collet, concluding with an overwhelmingly positive assessment of the event.
